RiZA is the latest project by dynamic Congolese guitarist/singer Niwel Tsumbu. After a decade in Ireland, Tsumbu is well known for his versatility and virtuosity having played and collaborated with the likes of Sinéad O’Connor, Glen Hansard, Liam O’Maonlai, Donal Lunny, Donal Dineen and many more.

RiZA features Niwel’s long-term collaborator Eamonn Cagney (of Treelan) on percussion, Emma Garnett (Feather) and Sallay Garnett (Loah) on vocals and Paddy Groenland (Ensemble, Manden Express) on guitar.

RiZA is a celebration of life and exploration of space, weaving the rich tapestry of African rhythms with contemporary pop music’s harmony and composition, and drawing inspiration from the solar system and the time-space continuum.
Their début album will be out this year.
